Answers to Questions

How deep will the housing go?
This model is rated to 150 feet.

There have been thousands of dives by hundreds of customers using this simple and reliable design with no reports of flooding due to the design or materials.

Many customers report going to much deeper depths. I prefer not to recommend deeper depths until I have verified them personally and over an extended period of time.

Do you give refunds ?

Yes and no.

Let me explain. I used to sell underwater cameras and offered a 30 day guarantee as I do with the other items I sell online but found out a small percentage of my diving customers were ripping me off. They would use the camera on their dive trip and send it back to me for a refund after the trip. I no longer offer such a lengthy refund time period for dive camera items.

However, if you are in the USA I do offer a 3 day refund. There is no refund option for overseas buyers., however all buyers are still covered for parts and labor under the warranty no matter where they are..

Here’s the deal. If you are in the USA I will be sending the housing with delivery confirmation so I know exactly what day the housing was delivered to you. If you are in the USA and receive the housing and find it is not what you thought you were buying or your camera won’t fit then you can return the housing in new, undamaged and unused condition to the post office within 3 days from the day the post office delivery confirmation system says they delivered to you. Obviously, the three days is excluding Sundays and days the post office is not open. Please ship the housing back to me unused, insured and with delivery confirmation. If you returned the housing unused, in new condition and within the 3 day time I requested I will be happy to refund you your purchase price upon receiving the item. If you mail it to me used, damaged, and/or after more than three days have elapsed from the delivery date stated by the post office you will not get any refund. No exceptions.

Does the NEMO 200 have a Warranty

Yes, a six month warranty with free parts and labor. If you use the housing and there is any problem with the operation of the housing or it breaks during normal underwater use I have a 6 months warranty .Please email me before sending the item back, I may be able to solve the problem without you returning it. If the housing breaks or does not work properly and if I find the problem is caused by faulty material or workmanship while used as intended I will fix or replace the housing for free. A complete warranty form is included with the housing and can be sent to you by email before buying the housing should you need to see one.I do not pay for shipping to me for warranty repairs but if the item is repaired under warranty I do pay for return shipping.

In the unlikely event the housing is delivered by the Post office broken during shipping with a damaged shipping container please return the item with the damaged box to your postal office to file a refund as the item will have been sent insured.I do not refund broke items broken during shipping . I insure with the post office, if the item broke while they had it you you have to file a claim with them as they broke it.

Do you ship overseas?

Yes I do ship outside the USA, but I only ship via USPS  Global Express as this option allows for tracking the shipment.

Your shipping cost will be what USPS charges to send an 10 pound package from the USA  to your country using the USPS  Global Express shipping option.

The shipping  prices are available to you at www.usps.com. I do not have any refund policy for overseas buyers and do not pay postage on any housing sent back for repairs, however if the repair is due to faulty workmanship or materials and the housing is still under warranty I will be happy to pay for postage to return the repaired item to you.

How much is my shipping and when will I get my housing?

Will my camera fit inside the housing?

Your camera will fit if it is smaller than the dimensions I give in the ad. If you look closely there is a camera mounting board or plate across the bottom of the housing that slides in and out and is used to attach your camera to it and keep it level. If you need more room the plate can be removed and you can perhaps place your camera in the housing without the plate but then you will need to stuff foam or padding around your camera to secure it.

If you have a hard time figuring out what are the dimensions of your camera you can draw the dimensions of the housing on a piece of paper and cut out the interior dimensions and then see if your video camera will slide through the hole in the paper you cut out which represents the interior dimension of the housing,

Where are the controls?

There are no controls. I kept the housing as simple as possible. I turn my camera on Record and then put it on Pause then slide the videocamera in my housing and close the housing,. When I am ready to dive, just before I go in the water I turn the camera to Record with my remote control and make sure my red record light comes on. If you don’t have a remote control you will have to turn the camera on to Record and insert the camera before diving.

A lot of people are concerned at first that they have no access to stop and record buttons and that the camera is constantly recording throughout the dive. I find not having to stop and start the camera to actually be a benefit. I am  less likely to miss something if the camera is always on and not having to turn the camera on and off means you never forget to turn it back on.

Editing a dive tape from a camera that was left on during the entire dive is quite simple. You will have a lot of boring parts to cut out and the task may seem to be a lot of work when thinking about it, but in actual practice it is quite easy.

After capturing my video I attach my video camera to my cheap $79 Cyber Home DVD recorder and let the tape run. When I hit a boring patch on the video I stop the DVD recorder and start it recording again when a good part comes on the videotape. If I was too slow to notice the start of the good part I rewind the tape and start the recorder as the good part of the video comes on the screen. In no time at all I have transferred the best parts of the video to DVD without even having to use my computer.

Later on, I can put my DVD into my computer and refine the edit or capture stills from the DVD if I want. Making enjoyable diving videos is very easy and the lack of on and off controls on the housing is no problem at all, You only need to have enough battery power and tape for the length of your dive and practise a bit aiming the camera.

Where is the housing made?

Same place I was . USA

Do you have spare parts?

I have plenty of spare parts, O rings and lens, etc. In the unlikely event  you break the housing and it is no longer under warranty I can repair it inexpensively for you.The previous NEMO housing models I designed and sold were made mostly overseas and I have no more spare parts for them. This model is made mostly by me and the parts and materials are local so I should always be able to fix or replace the housing or any of its parts for you.

Do you sell these wholesale?

No, the price is already as low as I can go, although if you are a dive resort or dive shop I knock off a small percent for multiple orders

Is this  housing easy to use?

Yes, the housing is pretty much a no brainer. I do highly recommend you take your new housing to a pool or calm protected swimming area before taking the housing out into the open water. That way you can get used to filming with it, adjust the buoyancy with your ballast to your liking and make sure you can use it and it works OK before going off on a dive vacation.

How do I attach my camera inside the housing?

The housing comes with a small narrow interior mounting board or plate made from a piece of treated masonite that slides in and out of the housing. Four bent metal disks inside the housing form a track you can slide the camera mounting plate under to secure the plate . I include a small bolt and a hole for the bolt to attach a videocamera using the threaded screw hole that is commonly found on the bottom of all cameras used to mount to a tripod.

If your camera is of a different size than mine  and your cameras mounting hole is in a different place it is easy to modify the plate. The board is thin on purpose so even if you only have a pocket knife  it is simple for you to make another bolt hole that will work for the placement of your camera.

How do I see what I am filming?

You point and shoot. This takes a little practice, you basically have to aim it with the camera always set at the widest angle setting, however if your camera is quite small you may be able to partially open your monitor and see that way. Some customers have inquired about installing a small LCD monitor in the rear as there is plenty of extra room in the back when used with most of the smaller cameras today. This would be a great idea but I haven’t done it yet myself.

Can you build different size housings?

I can build different lengths if it is a special order and you have extra time it will take me to get around to it, but right now the widths are limited to exactly what is shown in the specifications.
The following are the interior dimensions so you can verify that the camera you have will fit.

The inside dimensions in inches are::

A Interior width or diameter 5 & 3/4″

B Interior Height from camera mounting plate to inside top 5″

C Interior length

The regular Nemo 200 interior length is 10 inches, plus or minus 1/2 inches.

The Shorty Nemo 200 Interior Length is usually 6 and 1/2 inches plus or minus a half inch.

The length varies due to production method used, if you need an exact and precise length let me know and I can usually arrange that for you.

If you are still unsure if your camera will fit you can cut a circle out of stiff paper that is 5 and 3/4 inches in diameter and see if your camera will pass through. Don’t forget there will be a mounting board on the bottom that will make your available height 5 inches.
